FAQ
Art therapy is the process of working with the client’s emotions or trauma in the moment using the combination of art and psychotherapy. By applying the creative process and co-creating a liminal space together, we tap into the client's subconscious in order to address what client's underlying thoughts or emotions bring attention to. Art therapy also honours recurring thoughts or emotional needs that are asking to be addressed in the moment. This process is facilitated with materials chosen to accommodate emotions or feelings, and can be done thorough drawing, painting, sculpture, poetry, collage, mindfulness, or even through creating art with nature. Art therapy can be a profound experience for those who don't feel comfortable talking about their issues, or who are looking for an alternative to talk therapy.
No artistic skills are required—just an openness to explore through art.
Joanne provides art therapy sessions online, creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore emotions, reduce stress, and gain personal insight through creative expression.
Sessions are held via secure video calls (primarily zoom) and tailored to your individual needs, whether you're coping with anxiety, grief, trauma, or simply seeking personal growth.
You can send an email to bearhandshub@gmail.com, or fill out the contact form on the "Book a Session" page.
The first option is to pay out of pocket.
The second option is to submit an insurance claim for reimbursement for your session payment.
To submit an insurance claim for therapy, you will provide the therapist registration number to your insurance provider, and they will provide you with instructions on how to submit a claim with your insurance company. Please note you will be required to contact your insurance provider to see what their reimbursement and insurance claims process looks like, and to see if therapy is covered by them.
If you have any additional questions, please reach out by using the online contact form, or by emailing bearhandshub@gmail.com.
